Notes and AI suggestions

Leave review notes on any line, and optionally ask a model to suggest a change.

Notes are for things you spot while working that you’ll want to raise in a pull request review.

Adding a note

  • Hover over a line in any diff and click the +. ⌘↩ saves the note.
  • To note several lines, drag across them first.
  • A note stays with its line as the file changes around it.
  • Suggest a change adds what the lines should say instead, shown as a diff. Apply writes it into the file.

The Notes page

⌘5 lists every note. Copy all as Markdown gives you a review summary, with suggestions as GitHub suggestion blocks. Notes stay in your clone and are never committed.

Ask an AI

Ask AI is off until you turn it on in Settings › AI. Pick Anthropic or OpenAI, name a model, and paste your API key, or set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY or OPENAI_API_KEY.

  • Ask AI, in a note, offers Simpler, More explicit, Document, Extract and Rename, or anything you type.
  • Only the lines you chose, and the diff around them, are sent.
  • The answer becomes the note’s suggested change. Nothing reaches your files until you apply it.
