Working with Git

Patch files

Save changes or a commit as a .patch file, and apply one someone sent you.

A patch is a plain-text file of changes that someone else can apply to their own copy of the repository.

To Do this
Save every uncommitted change File › Save Changes as Patch…
Save one commit Right-click it and choose Save as Patch…
Apply a patch File › Apply Patch…
  • An applied patch’s changes arrive unstaged, ready to review and commit.
  • If the files have changed since the patch was made, Lusca merges it in as git apply --3way does. Any conflicts get markers.
  • In a repository that uses Git LFS, a patch holds pointers rather than images. Push the images somewhere the other person can fetch them.
